It was suggested to me the other day that it might be a good idea to have a dedicated members only HDMAC forum which could be part of the official club website. Initially I thought this might be difficult to set up and run but after a little searching around I found this forum provider and it would seem that it is rather more straightforward than I feared.

I'm not sure how often or how much this will be used but at least the facility is there for those that want to use it.

If you check the right box when making a post I think it should be possible to set up email notifications so that any member can see any replies without having to log on all the time.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

The club has had previous forums and groups in place however there were occasions when offensive and inflammatory comments were made about other club members.

As Forum Administrator any comments of this nature or which I find distasteful will be removed immediately and the forum member's account will be suspended. If the posting is serious enough then it could also result in the member being suspended or expelled permanantly from the club. Just because it's a forum doesn't mean that bad behaviour can be tolerated less so than on any other site within the club.

To ensure that the forum is used in a friendly manner I am going to insist that a member must use his real name for his username. This means no pseudonyms (like Skirmish for instance) so that any person is known to everyone else who posts on here.

For instance I'm David.Elam or I could be Davidelam, David Elam or D.Elam. Hope you get the idea.

I wish I didn't have to be so strict over this but as I am running the site I have a duty to keep it in order and these rules have also been agreed by the committee.

Anyway, feel free to start threads and make some comments. We'll see how it goes and I may well in due course add some more sections dedicated to the different activities within the club.
